Runo song is a unique genre of song and a central part of the ancient Baltic-Finnic singing tradition. It has been used to address, organize, and interpret the world in both everyday life and celebrations. Runo song is characterized by a world of five tones and octosyllabic verse. There are no stanzas; instead, the song progresses one verse or pair of verses at a time. Singers are encouraged to vary and improvise. Any melody can be used to sing any poem. The song can be very short or hundreds of verses long.

This Iki-Turso runo songbook contains 50 rune melodies and 48 poems for singing alone and together. The book also includes a guide to runo song meter.
